A. General procedure

Obtain an SSA-21 (Supplement of Claim of Person Outside the U.S.) if the trip was (or will be) more than three months in duration.

If the trip was (or will be) three months or less, see GN 02605.210.

B. Procedure if SSA-21 shows work outside U.S

Obtain an SSA-7163 (Questionnaire About Employment or Self-Employment Outside the U.S.).
