AUDIENCE: BA, BATA, CCDIPS, ER, LCC, RECOVR, EE, EHS, EIE, IES

The date of termination for HI/SMI (DOTH/DOTS) for disabled or deemed disabled child or widow beneficiaries (e.g., a BIC of C or W) whose benefits are terminated for all reasons other than T-1, T-2, and T-5 is effective 2 months after the date of the credit action (DOCA) or 2 months after the notice of termination of benefits or disability entitlement is received by the beneficiary, whichever is later.

These terminations can be processed through one of 3 programs—SALT, TATTER, or MADCAP. The SALT and TATTER programs will automatically terminate the HI/ SMI. See Part II, sections 70 and 74 of the Benefit Accounting, Exception and Alert Processing, and Check Inquiries Manual for procedures for SALT.

The terminations processed through MADCAP will be completed by following the procedures outlined in HI 00820.100 and termination procedures in SM 00613.000, respectively.
